Get your feet (and face!) wet this summer with our FOC snorkel workshops! This guide of the river will take place under the surface, as participants learn about freshwater ecology and unique Cheat River critters. To get first access to our online registration email madison@cheat.org to sign up to the snorkel email club. Any additional questions can be sent to Madison Ball at madison@cheat.org

All of our workshops are free and open to the public, and we will provide the snorkels and needed gear to participants.  No prior experience necessary. Our events are open to all ages although we ask that those under 16 years old be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Wednesday July 28th, Horseshoe Recreation and Campground Area: FOC staff will be hosting free snorkel workshops in Horseshoe Run outside of St. George, WV.  Sessions will begin at 2:00, 4:00, and 6:00 pm and will last approximately one hour.  All ages welcome, FOC masks and snorkels available for use.

This event is cancelled due to high water – Saturday, August 21st, Fascination Alley on the Cheat River along Rte.72 near Rowlesburg: FOC staff will be hosting a free snorkel workshop at the “The Alley” on the Narrows of the Cheat River, flows and weather permitting, from 1:00 – 4:00, with participants being able to come and go as they please.  All ages welcome, FOC masks and snorkels available for use. Location and parking here, look for the Friends of the Cheat sign: 39.3971, -79.68734.  This site has deeper water than some of our other snorkel locations, lifejackets will also be available for use.

If you have a group of individuals that are interested in participating in a  snorkeling workshop, please reach out to me and we could potentially schedule a workshop for this summer or early Fall.
